Had to share the pictures.
Here's how it started, which has been the norm for the past several weeks.
Then, as Jodi said, the cotton candy effect began. The first pic is with the HDR app on the camera (the cell phone), the second one is just the cell phone camera.
This last one was from the end of the pier with the HDR app.
The HDR app stands (I think) for High Dynamic Range. The app snaps several pictures with different exposures then knits them together. It minimizes the washout effect of the bright portions and brightens the darker areas of the picture and (to my eye) intensifies the colors.
